Our Sixteenth Custom Trophy & Apparel Player Of the Game

The Bellvue Tigers haven't been tp the Region finals since 2000. The Beechwood Tigers haven't seen anything short of a state title since 2006. Who will advance to face Pulaski County in the semis?? Beechwood got the scoring underway at the 10:23 mark when Matt Rigdon ran it in from 7 yards out to make it a 7-0 lead. Bellevue's first score would come from the defense as Alex Hegge ran an interception back 33 yards at the 5:23 mark to tie the game at 7. That would be the last scoring that Bellevue would have until the 3rd quarter. Beechwood on the other hand, scored and scored. On the next series, Cameron Vocke ran it in from 69 yards out to make the score 14-7 at the 5:04 mark. The second quarter was all Beechwood. Beechwood would add 7 more with another Vocke running touchdown from 17 yards out with 8:27 to go. The Simon Kenton Pioneers are coming off a 49-7 win over Butler in week 1 of the playoffs. The DuPont Manual Crimsons are coming off a 50-39 win over Conner. These two have not played each other in over 10 years, how woould it come out?? The Pioneers would score before the half on a Chad Lawrence 7 yard run and a Zach Carroll 2 point conversion giving SK a 15-14 lead going into the locker room. 11/6/09 - Playoff Week 1 - Class 4A - East Jessamine @ Holmes

Jesse Jensen - Holmes

Our Fourteenth Custom Trophy & Apparel Player Of the Game

The East Jessamine Jaguars took a two hour bus ride in hopes of playing on in the Class 4A playoffs. The Holmes Bulldogs were looking for a playoff win to continue their very nice season. Holmes got the scoring underway on their first drive on a 32 yard pass completion from Jesse Jensen to DeSean Peterson at the 10:32 mark. The extra point would make it 7-0. Unfortunately for East Jessamine, that would be as close as they would get, as the shutout was on. On the next drive, Greg Clemons ran it in from a yard out after a 47 yard gain at the 8:30 mark to make it 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw the Bulldogs continue to pound the Jaguars. A 13 yard run by Greg Clemons made it 21-0 with 10:00 to go in the half, a 28 yard pass completion to Traerell Freeman at the 4:13 mark made it 28-0 and a 1 yard run by Damien Oden made the score at the half, 35-0 Bulldogs. Holmes would add one more score, that came at the 3:02 mark in the third quarter as Tyrique Simpson ran it in from 3 yards out to make the score, your final, 42-0. Holmes will next face Lexington Catholic at home next Friday. The Knights are coming off their first round game win against Pendleton County, 62-0.

10/30/09 - Week 10 - Newport @ Cooper

Matt Rudd - Cooper

Our Thirteenth Custom Trophy & Apparel Player Of the Game

It's the regular season finale as the Newport Wildcats head over to Cooper to take on the 2nd year Jaguars. Newport is headed to the playoffs with a road game against Louisville DeSales, while the Jaguars are on the outside looking in at their district and finish their year tonight. After a scoreless first quarter, the Wildcats got the scoring underway with a Donald Watson 14 yard run at the 8:12 mark in the second quarter, but the 2 point conversion was no good giving Newport a 6-0 lead. Cooper would answer in the quarter with a 3 yard run by Dvonte Bradley at the 3:20 mark giving the Jaguars a 7-6 lead after the extra point and took that to the half. The 3rd quarter saw a huge play by the Wildcats Brandon Carter, as he ran back in interception 98 yards to the house to give Newport a 12-7 lead with 8:44 to go in the quarter, but unfortunatdely for the Wildcats, that would be the last time they see the endzone. Cooper however would answer that play with another Bradley TD. This one from 10 yards out, making the score 14-12 with 2:29 to go in the 3rd. The 4th quarter saw 2 more scores from the Jaguars. The one that sealed the deal for Cooper was a 19 yard run by our Custom Trophy & Apparel Player of the game, Matt Rudd with 3:21 to go. The final score coming at the 1:32 mark as Dvonte Bradley finished his year with 18 TD's as he added a 14 yarder to cap off the scoring and the win for the Jaguars, 27-12.

10/23/09 - Week 9 - Walton-Verona @ Ludlow

Zach Stegmoeller - Ludlow

Our Twelvth Custom Trophy & Apparel Player Of the Game

It's Senior Night for the Panthers as the rain finally subsided and actually turned out to be a great night for some High School Football. Ludlow, already in the playoffs looked to finish their district schedule, while Walton-verona was looking for their first district win. Walton would get the ball first, but it was Ludlow who on their first drive struck gold on a 56 yard pass reception from Zach Stegmoeller to Anthony Gault to take the 6-0 lead at the 8:30 mark. Ludlow would score again at the end of the quarter as Steg found Chris Yates from 16 yards out. The two point conversion is good making the score after the first quarter 14-0, Panthers. Walton came alive in the second quarter. A 2 yard run for Zach MacAdams cut the lead in half at the 9:54 mark and in one of the most bizarre plays we have seen this year, the Bearcats tied the game at the end of the half on a blocked punt. The ball was fumbled and the Bearcats Quincy Page picked it up at the 27 yard line and ran it in for the score tying the game at 14 at the half. Both teams came out flat in the 3rd quarter until Ludlow's Jacob Ashcraft scored from 5 yards out at the 8:52 mark to give the Panthers a 20-14 lead. The fourth quarter is where it got interesting. Quincy Page struck again for the Bearcats at the 4:19 mark when he picked off Stegmoeller. The Bearcats take the ball down the field in :59 seconds and take the lead 21-20 on a 7 yard catch by Nolan Brown with 3:20 to go. The Panthers weren't finished. Zach Stegmoeller, our Custom Trophy & Apparel Player of the Game found a hole and ran it in from 21 yards out to give the Panthers a 26-20 lead and then added the 2 point conversion to make the score your final 28-21. Give huge credit to the Bearcats. They didn't give up and really came out to play. They are still a bit young, but they will build on this game.

10/16/09 - Week 8 - Oldham County @ Grant County

Kirk Yepko - Oldham Co. &

Alan Workman - Grant Co.

Our Eleventh Custom Trophy & Apparel Player Of the Game

Last week it was the RAIN!!!!! This week was the cold. Game time was 40 degrees and the field conditions were bad at Grant County. But the Braves were fighting for the playoffs, while Oldham County was looking for a better seed. We said at the beginning that due to the conditions, this game would be low scoring, quick and it would take a big play to win. It was everything but the last. The game was scoreless through regulation and went to overtime. We have seen one OT game this year already. Grant County won the toss for OT and deferred. Oldham County started at the 10 yard line and on an 8 yard QB keeper by Chase Hamby, scored the only TD in the game. the extra point was good, giving a 7-0 lead to the Colonels. Grant County had their turn, but a missed TD catch in the endzone ended the game and playoff chances for the Braves. Unfortunately, they will be the odd man out in their 5A district. The Custom Trophy & Apparel Player of the game went to Oldham County's Kirk Yepko. The Senior running back had 10 rushes for 15 yards in the soup and caught the games longest pass for the Colonels.

10/9/09 - Week 7 - Holmes @ Dixie Heights

Zeke Pike - Our Tenth Custom Trophy & Apparel Player Of the Game

RAIN!!!!!!!!! The game was supposed to be played at Holmes tonight, but a change in venue was needed due to all of the rain we got over the previous 2 days. Holmes came into the game undefeated, while Dixie is looking to rebound after their loss to Highlands. Dixie would get things going with a 30 pass reception from Ryan Wilson to Bobby Leonard with 9:46 to go in the first quarter to put Dixie up 7-0. Holmes would answer that possession with a 25 yard field Goal by Nyko Ghanbar to make the score 7-3. The second quarter saw a bit of the same thing as Zeke Pike caught another Wilson pass, this time from 34 yards to give the Colonels a 14-3 lead with 6:10 to go. Holmes would answer with another Ghanbar FG, this time from 26 yards out to cut the Colonel lead to 14-6. Dixie would cap off their scoring in the game with 19.6 seconds to go as Wilson again connected, this time to Ben Wolfe from 22 yards out to make the halftime score 21-6. Holmes would get one more score in as the rain intensified at the 6:38 mark in the third quarter on a 3 yard run from Jesse Jenson to make the score your final, Dixie Heights 21, Holmes 12. The Colonels Zeke Pike was given the Custom Trophy & Apparel Player of the game for his efforts on both sides of the pall. His TD reception, and interception and multiple tackles earned him the award.

The Juggernauts woould come right back on the next series and score on a 49 yard Trevor Gregory pass completion from Dylan McGuire to make it 14-13, but it was the Eagles that would close out the scoring in the first half with a 37 yard Doug Patton catch from Zack Sowder with :51.3 seconds left to give the Eagles a 20-13 halftime edge. It's Monday Night Football On the River!!!! It's also Homecoming Night for the Ludlow Panthers as the Bishop Brossart Mustangs come in to start District Play in Class 1A. The Mustangs are still not feeling all that great from the flu that hit the school, but give them credit, they came out and from the game start, looked pretty good. 9/25/09 - Week 5 - Cooper @ Ryle

Kiefer Eubank - Our Seventh Custom Trophy & Apparel Player Of the Game

If you are going to play at WKU, you have to get through your district first. 8 District games were on the docket this week as we headed out to Clifford R. Borland Sr. Stadium to watch some 6A play as another Homecoming game took place, this time, the Cooper Jaguars who have started out with a 2-2 record headed over to Ryle who has a 3-1 start to their year. Ryle got the scoring underway at the 9:33 mark with a 15 yard TD reception from Conner Hemple to Trenton Fugate. Ryle would add one more in the first quarter as Kiefer Eubank ran it in from 25 yards out giving the Raiders a 14-0 lead. Cooper answered right back in 2 plays from Dvonte Bradley going 81 yards in 35 seconds capped off by a 46 yard TD run to finish the 1st at 14-7. Then it got ugly. The Raiders would score 4 times in the 2nd quarter. 9/18/09 - Week 4 - Boone County @ Highlands

Brandon Roller - Our Sixth Custom Trophy & Apparel Player Of the Game

It was Highlands first home game of the year after going 4-0 on the road. Boone County continues their road trip after a 1-2 start. It's Homecoming at Highlands, how would they fare against the Rebels?? Just like normal, but with a hitch, no Austin Collinsworth who was in street clothes at games beginning. The scoring got underway with only 51 seconds off the clock as Nick Buten caught a 57 yard pass from Nick Bardo to take a 7-0 lead. Boone County responded well with a 62 yard run by Charles Quainoo at the 8:37 mark tying the game at 7. That would be the last time that Boone County would see the endzone for quite a while. Highlands would score on the next drive on a Jordan Streeter 34 yard run at the 6:56 mark to take a 14-7 lead. The 'Birds weren't done in the quarter yet, adding a 48 yard John Drennan catch at the 5:10 mark and adding the 2 point conversion to make it 22-7 going into the second quarter. Boone County couldn't find an answer for the Birds. A Tyler Fennell 25 yard run with 8 seconds gone in the second quarter made it 29-7 and another Nick Buten catch from 27 yards out capped the Highlands scoring at 36-7. Boone County would see one more score in the game, that coming in the 4th quarter with a 4 yard Trevan Brown catch from Bryson Thompson to finish off the Rebels scoring and the game, with your final, Highlands 36, Boone County 14.

9/4/09 - Week 2 - Owen County @ Gallatin County

Joseph Wood - Our Fourth Custom Trophy & Apparel Player Of the Game

When it comes to rivalry games, it doesn't get much better than this one. These two teams have some of the closest and hotly contested games around the state of Kentucky. This game didn't disappoint. Gallatin County would get the scoring underway on their first drive with Bryce Carlton taking a 5 yard run to the house at the 7:42 mark in the first quarter. Unfortunately for the Wildcats, that would be all of the scoring that Gallatin County would get. Owen County would score on their opening drive in the first quarter. A 22 yard run by Justin Stephens with 4:26 left in the quarter but a missed extra point made the score 7-6 at the end of the 1st quarter. Owen County would take the lead in the second quarter with a 15 yard run by Jared johnson to end the scoring at 13-7. Gallatin County had a last chance to win at the 2:50 mark, but penalties pushed them back the the 1 yard line and they couldn't recover. Our Custom Trophy & Apparel Player of the Game, Joseph Wood was one of those behind the scenes players who seemed to be everywhere on the field. The final, Owen County 13, Gallatin County 7.

Border rivals don't get any closer to this one. When you can see the other teams stadium from the other one, it will get intense. This one did as well. Ricky Buckler got the game scoring underway for Bellevue when we ran in from a yard out in the first quarter. Newport answered right back when Sean Gross caught a 2 yard pass to tie it up at 6. The Tigers would add three more scores before the half. Rushing TD runs of 6 and 3 yards for Ricky Buckler and a 4 yard run from Rodney Brock. We had not broadcast either team last year and a chance to get both in one day. Lloyd found themselves in a hole early as Bulldog QB Jesse Jenson ran in a 38 yarder for the first score of the game with 3:54 to go in the first quarter giving the Bulldogs an early 6-0 lead. Holmes then exploded in the 2nd quarter adding three more scores, all by our Custom Trophy & Apparel Player of the Game, Damien Oden. A 4 yard run on the first play of the second quarter, 62 yard kickoff return and an 11 yard run put the Bulldogs on cruise control taking a 27-0 halftime lead. Lloyd would get on the scoreboard in the third quarter with a 12 yard run from Dylan Smith but Holmes answered back with a Deshaun Peterson 21 yard catch making the score 34-6 going into the final 12 minutes. Lloyd would get their final points of the game on a 6 yard run from Dylan McGuire, while Holmes topped off their scoring with Damien Oden's 4th TD run from 15 yards out. Your final Holmes 41, Lloyd Memorial 12.

8/21/09 - Week 0 - Newport Central Catholic @ Dixie Heights

Ryan Wilson - Our First Custom Trophy & Apparel Player Of the Game

Season games could start in what is usually a scrimage week in 2009 and good thing for the Dixie Heights Colonels whose tremendous effort netted them a 19-7 win over the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds on Friday Night. Dixie got the scoring in early with Ben Haggerty taking a 22 yard pass reception from Ryan Wilson to the house to get the scoring underway in the first quarter. Zach Bonner would add a 25 yard field goal to give the Colonels all of the points they would need making it 10-0 going into halftime. NCC would come back in the third quarter to add a 19 yard running touchdown from Chris Kelly but it was the Colonels QB Ryan Wilson who took control in the 4th quarter adding a 9 yard keeper with 6:54 to go in the game and then making a 25 yard field goal to put the game out of reach of the 'Breds giving the Colonels the 19-7 win.
